The band System of a Down returned to Buenos Aires after a decade of absence, performing at the Estadio José Amalfitani in Vélez Sársfield as part of their Wake Up! South American Stadium Tour in collaboration with Fénix Entertainment. The audience, euphoric, fervently accompanied every song of a devastating show.
From the start of the concert, the energy of the band was palpable on an impressive stage with a spectacular light show. Led by Serj Tankian with his unmistakable voice and Daron Malakian on guitar, accompanied by Shavo Odadjian in a striking poncho and John Dolmayan on drums, they delivered an energetic and exciting performance.
True to their commitment to not repeating setlists, System of a Down offered a repertoire of 36 songs that covered their entire discography, including classics like "Chop Suey!" and "Toxicity" that made the audience vibrate. They also surprised with rarities like "Marmalade" and "Streamline," which are not commonly featured in their live performances. The closing with "Sugar" left everyone with the feeling of having witnessed an unforgettable concert.
One of the pleasant surprises of the night was the intimate interpretation of "Careless Whisper" by George Michael performed by Malakian. The emotional peak came with "Soldier Side," dedicated to the victims of armed conflicts, especially to the Armenian community, followed by "B.Y.O.B.".
