St. Patrick's Day in Buenos Aires

Saint Patrick's Day is celebrated every March 17 in honor of the patron saint of Ireland, commemorating the day of his death in 461 A.D. Originally a religious festival, over time it became a global celebration, driven by Irish immigrants, especially in the United States. The color green became associated with the celebration due to its connection to Irish identity, solidified during the rebellion of 1798 when Irish soldiers wore green in opposition to the British who wore red uniforms.

The shamrock, which Saint Patrick used to explain the Holy Trinity, reinforced this connection. The consumption of beer during the celebration has roots in Irish culture and its historic brewing tradition.

The Argentine-Irish Association will organize the Saint Patrick's Parade, which will take place on Sunday, March 16. The custom of dyeing beer green, however, originated in the United States in 1914. Today, the festival is celebrated with parades, traditional foods, and a large amount of beer, especially Guinness, reaffirming its festive and cultural character worldwide.

In Buenos Aires, various events will be held to celebrate Saint Patrick's Day. In Villa Adelina, there will be 2-for-1 beer offers at a local classic. Antares will reward its customers with a special promotion. On March 17, all branches of El Retorno will offer 2-for-1 on Irish Red Ale beers, raffles, live music, and a special menu.

Taller CABA in Chacarita will provide a 35% discount on beers and whiskey cocktails, along with typical Irish dishes. Blossom will celebrate with 2-for-1 pints at its branches in San Fernando and Castelar. In the Galpón de Tacuara in Palermo and other locations, special promotions and live music will be offered.

Notable places like Kilkenny in Retiro, Temple in Palermo, and Bruce Grill Station in Parque Leloir and Bella Vista will have special offerings for the occasion. The event will feature bagpipers, traditional attire, and Irish flags, turning the City of Buenos Aires into a place where the celebration of Saint Patrick's Day comes alive.
