The subway service in the City of Buenos Aires will be extended on weekends in March. The available days will be Fridays 7, 14, 21, and 28, as well as Saturdays 8, 15, 22, and 29. This extension of hours aims to meet the demand of users who enjoy the cultural and gastronomic offerings of the emblematic Corrientes Street.
The pilot test of this service began in December and continued through January and February. Following the positive reception from users, it was decided to include Saturdays in March. Now, both Fridays and Saturdays, the transportation service on line B of the subway will operate until 2 a.m.
The last service will leave from the terminal station Juan Manuel de Rosas at 1 a.m. and from the Alem station at 1:30 a.m. The stations involved in this extended service will be J.M. Rosas, Federico Lacroze, Dorrego, Medrano, Pueyrredón, Callao, Carlos Pellegrini, and Leandro N. Alem.
This measure seeks to facilitate the mobility of citizens who enjoy the diverse cultural and gastronomic offerings of the city, especially on Corrientes Street. The city government initiated this initiative last December with line B of the subway, aiming to promote tourism activity and support the city's nightlife entertainment offerings.
After the success of the pilot test in previous months, it was decided to extend the service to Saturdays in March. This decision was made in response to the support from passengers, who appreciated the convenience of having a safe and effective public transport option after nighttime events in the city.
Walking along Corrientes Street has become a classic experience for locals and visitors, who enjoy the rich cultural and gastronomic offerings of this area. With the addition of one more day for nighttime service on the subway, the aim is to continue promoting access to the cultural diversity that characterizes weekends in the city of Buenos Aires.
