Festival for Memory Spaces in Buenos Aires

On Saturday, January 25, a festival in defense of Memory Sites will take place at the ExCCDTyE Virrey Cevallos. The event aims to support Memory Spaces, public policies of Memory, Truth, and Justice, and demand the reinstatement of workers dismissed from the Ministry of Human Rights.

The call focuses on the importance of keeping Memory Spaces open, especially in a context where workers from the Ministry of Human Rights have been dismissed. The current situation is critical, and it is emphasized that without the staff, there can be no Memory.

Despite a ruling from Judge Ariel Lijo ordering that the memory spaces of CABA remain open, workers continue to organize amid financial difficulties, layoffs, and cuts in memory policies. The call includes the defense of Memory Spaces, public policies of Memory, Truth, and Justice, as well as the request for the immediate reinstatement of dismissed workers.

The festival will take place at the memory space Virrey Cevallos in Monserrat, starting at 4:00 PM. Throughout the day, there will be live music, street theater, artistic interventions, screen printing, and a space dedicated to children. The gathering is a call to strengthen struggles and resist government measures.

In the site where a clandestine center for disappearance, torture, and extermination operated during the last dictatorship, the community will gather to reaffirm its commitment to memory and justice. The importance of remembering and reflecting on the past remains fundamental to building a future based on values of truth and dignity.
