Protests in Buenos Aires over Salary Loss

The State Workers Association (ATE) will carry out a 36-hour strike across the public administration in protest against the loss of purchasing power during Javier Milei's administration and the Government's intention to freeze salaries for the remainder of the year. The union expresses its rejection of the use of negotiations in the National Public Administration to influence other public and private negotiations.

The General Secretary of ATE National, Rodolfo Aguiar, emphasized that if they do not receive responses to their demands, the measures will intensify and conflict will increase. They demand the reopening of negotiations and a salary increase that allows recovery of the purchasing power lost in recent months, as well as the halt of layoffs in the public sector and the reinstatement of those unjustly dismissed.

Aguiar pointed out that the deterioration of salaries in the Public Sector is alarming, leaving public employees with children who must rent in a difficult situation mid-month. Additionally, there is a mention of rejection of privatizations of state companies and the undermining of agencies like AFIP.

The mobilization convened by ATE includes a march to the Ministry of Deregulation and State Transformation, led by Federico Sturzenegger, starting from the Obelisk to the Ministry's headquarters. The 36-hour strike will coincide with another measure of force, joining the general demand for the current situation in the State.
