50% Increase in Taxi Fares in Buenos Aires

Taxis in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CABA) will increase their rates starting Friday, November 1st. The increase represents a 50% rise in prices, completing the adjustment scheme established for the second half of the year, which included another increase in August of the same proportion.

During a public hearing on July 15th, the new prices were agreed upon with the participation of representatives from various taxi associations. Among the changes, it was established that the flag drop, now equivalent to ten tokens, will cost $1,920 during the day and $2,300 during the early morning.

Additionally, the cost for every two hundred meters traveled and for every minute of waiting will equate to the value of one token, translating to $192 starting in November. Regarding luggage, it was decided that a carry-on bag or a smaller package of certain dimensions will be free, while additional packages will cost $960 each, equivalent to five tokens.

The increase on Friday will be the fourth of the year, reaching a total adjustment of 150% compared to the prices in effect in 2023. This increase is part of a necessary update due to inflation and rising costs in the taxi industry, according to the city government that approved the measure last July.
