AFA Signs Collective Bargaining Agreement Challenging Government

Amidst a judicial escalation, the Argentine Football Association (AFA) is challenging the national government by signing a collective bargaining agreement with UTEDyC that exceeds the 2% cap set by the Ministry of Economy. The raise for the March-June quarter is 12.5%, distributed as follows: 3.5% in March, 3.5% in April, 3% in May, and 2% in June. The increases are cumulative, according to information published by the union and processed by the Argentine News Agency. The government aims to keep salary increases at or below 2% monthly to align this variable with the rest of the macroeconomy, though this clearly means a loss of purchasing power for workers. Now, the focus shifts to the position of the Secretariat of Labor, which could put up obstacles to the agreement's approval. The agreement covers workers under the three collective bargaining agreements that regulate the AFA's activities.
