Buenos Aires, March 30 (NA) – The National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC) will release this Tuesday the poverty and indigence index for the second half of 2025. According to the Argentine News Agency, this figure is of great importance to the government as it is a highly anticipated data point that could provide some relief amid discussions about the current state of the Argentine economy. In the first half of 2024, the poverty index was 52.9%, an increase of 12.8 percentage points compared to the same period in 2023 (40.1%), according to INDEC. Likewise, indigence doubled in one year, rising from 9.3% in the first half of 2023 to 18.1% in the first six months of 2024. However, in the second half of 2024, poverty decreased considerably, reaching 38.1% of the population, 3.6 percentage points less than in the same period of 2023. With this outlook, the figures for the second half of 2025 will be announced tomorrow.
