Argentina's Economy Minister Predicts Record Agricultural Export Growth

Buenos Aires, March 24 (NA) – Minister of Economy Luis Caputo highlighted the agricultural sector's response to the tax cuts implemented by the national government and predicted an increase in export volumes. “Everyone talks about the potential of energy and mining, but few pay attention to the extraordinary reaction of our agricultural producers to the tax cuts we have made on exports (withholding duties) and imports (tariffs on capital goods, herbicides, irrigation equipment, permission to import used machinery, etc),” the minister emphasized in a social media post. Caputo stated that “investment has risen sharply and production is heading for a record harvest this year” and estimated that in a “conservative scenario, exports would increase by $3.7 billion compared to last year.” “In a scenario of higher prices and production (something that is being validated), exports would climb to nearly $42 billion. “This is $8.7 billion more than last year,” the post processed by the Argentine News Agency indicated. Caputo affirmed: “Agriculture is in an absolute boom and will be, as always, a key engine for economic growth in the coming years.”
