Buenos Aires, March 12 (NA) – The National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INDEC) revealed the inflation figure for February in Argentina, and with it, the amount a typical four-person family needed to live in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area. According to the Argentine News Agency, the figure far exceeded ARS $1,000,000 to cover the total basic basket needs. February's inflation was 2.9%, accumulating 5.9% in the first bimester. "A four-member household needed ARS $1,397,671.83 to exceed the poverty threshold in February 2026: 2.7% more than the previous month and 32.1% year-on-year," as stated by INDEC in its report on the basic basket for February 2026. According to INDEC, the 'typical family' consists of four members: two adults (a 35-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman) and two children (a 6-year-old son and an 8-year-old daughter). In February 2026, this family needed ARS $644,088 for the food basket and an additional ARS $753,583.83 to reach the total basic basket of ARS $1,397,671.83.
