Buenos Aires Government Modifies Bus Routes

The national government implemented modifications to the routes of bus lines circulating in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA). The changes to the operational parameters of lines 128, 158, and the merger of lines 32 and 75 were ordered by the Secretariat of Transport "with the aim of improving the efficiency of public service." When explaining the restructuring of the lines operated by El Puente S.A.T., the Executive branch explained that "it is part of the network improvement process, seeking to optimize routes, reduce overlaps, reinforce sections with higher demand, and facilitate connections with other modes of transport." In this sense, they indicated that with these purposes, they aim to guarantee "a more efficient and balanced service for users" of public transport in the metropolitan area, according to the Argentine News Agency.

Merger of Lines 32 and 75

Lines 32 and 75 will merge into a single line 32, which will have three routes between Once and Remedios de Escalada. Additionally, a new Route C is created, connecting Remedios de Escalada with the 'Hospitals' station of subway Line H, fostering transfers between different modes of transport.

Main changes:

  • The former branch A of line 75 will change its terminus from Retiro to operate from Once towards the south, strengthening the section between Once and Lanús, where the highest passenger flow is located.
  • The termini of both lines are unified in Remedios de Escalada for better operational regularity of the services.
  • A branch (Route C) is added between Remedios de Escalada and the 'Hospitals' station of subway Line H, to facilitate intermodal transfers and reinforce services on the high-demand section during peak hours.
  • Route B of line 75 is eliminated.

The "new line 32" will operate as follows:

Route A: Plaza de Miserere (Autonomous City of Buenos Aires) – Remedios de Escalada (Lanús Partido – Buenos Aires Province), with frequencies between 6 and 8 minutes. Route B (via Rucci): Plaza de Miserere (Autonomous City of Buenos Aires) – Remedios de Escalada (Lanús Partido – Buenos Aires Province), with frequencies between 11 and 16 minutes. Route C (via Rucci): Hospitals (Autonomous City of Buenos Aires) – Remedios de Escalada (Lanús Partido – Buenos Aires Province), with frequencies between 9 and 12 minutes.

LINE 128

A new branched route (new Route B) between Pompeya and Plaza Italia is incorporated, with the objective of increasing services on the section with the highest passenger demand during peak hours. The services of line 128 are now configured as follows:

Route A: Plaza Italia (Autonomous City of Buenos Aires) – Valentín Alsina (Lanús Partido – Buenos Aires Province), with frequencies between 6 and 9 minutes. Route B: Plaza Italia (Autonomous City of Buenos Aires) – Nueva Pompeya (Autonomous City of Buenos Aires), with frequencies between 5 and 7 minutes.

Both routes will operate the trunk service during peak hours, with a joint frequency of 3 minutes.

LINE 158

The current route is extended from Pompeya to Parque Patricios to reach the 'Hospitals' subway station of Line H, promoting connections with other modes of transport.

The line is now configured as follows:

Route A: Hospitals (Autonomous City of Buenos Aires) – Lanús Station (Roca Line – Lanús Partido – Buenos Aires Province), with a frequency between 4 and 5 minutes.
