BID Announces Funds for Argentina

The Inter-American Development Bank (BID) announced that there will be announcements of funds for Argentina within the framework of the summit taking place in Asunción. According to the head of the region's main development financing bank, Argentina was the number one destination for the bank's investments in Latin America. "Something very robust in terms of public investment is going to be announced, but always thinking about growth in the private sector," he said. He stated that the BID shares the Argentine model: "first of all, we believe that fiscal consolidation is fundamental, an achievement that we all have to value." "We have been talking with our governor about how we can work next year, and BID Invest had a fantastic year in terms of investment; Argentina was number one in the bank's investment in Latin America," explained Isaac Goldfajn. He also agreed that the private sector is fundamental for growth and highlighted social assistance projects. Regarding social protection, he noted that "we have worked in Argentina on social protection, we had clear policies on how to protect the most vulnerable in these changes, with transfers that are maintained, and that has been a bit of our contribution." The bank's loan stock in the region reached US$ 35 billion in 2025, including US$ 13 billion for the private sector. With a program of US$ 10 billion, Argentina is the main destination for the resources of this multilateral organization. During the Javier Milei administration, the group has already approved projects for US$ 3.9 billion, and US$ 6.1 billion remain pending.
