Buenos Aires, March 8 (NA) – The Congress of the Ibero-American Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gases will gather, from March 24 to 26 in Buenos Aires, sector leaders from more than 20 countries to analyze the impact of international conflicts on the hydrocarbon market and the new world map. The 39th edition of the Congress will take place at the Hilton Hotel in Buenos Aires and will bring together some 2,000 participants from more than 20 countries, including businesspeople, government authorities, technicians, specialists, and key figures from the energy sector. During the three days, the impact of the armed conflict in the Middle East and US intervention in Venezuela (one of the largest natural gas producers in Latin America) will be evaluated, according to the Argentine News Agency. In addition, the challenges and opportunities of the LPG market will be debated, with a special focus on technical-operational, regulatory, and commercial aspects; likewise, trends, technological innovation, and the strategic role of liquefied petroleum gas in the energy transition will be analyzed. Parallel to the Congress, the LPG Fair will also be held, a strategic space for business generation and corporate linkage. The fair will feature the participation of more than 70 exhibitors, including equipment manufacturers, technology suppliers, and specialized service providers, consolidating the event as a key platform for commercial and technological exchange. The holding of the AIGLP Congress represents a milestone for the national energy sector, as the last meeting in Argentina was in 2017, once again positioning the country as a relevant player in the regional LPG market and strengthening institutional and commercial ties with the main players of the Ibero-American industry. Argentina has a surplus of LPG LPG is, after Natural Gas, the most used fuel in Argentina. According to the 2022 Census, more than 46% of the population, some 20 million people, use it for cooking or heating. It is also essential for industries, commerce, and fields. This fuel is used in every corner of the country, but in five provinces (Corrientes, Chaco, Misiones, Formosa, and La Rioja), 80% of its population needs it. However, despite the high local demand, Argentina produces a surplus of LPG, with 2.7 million tons per year. This gas comes from the separation of liquids from natural gas and the refining of oil, which, thanks to the vertiginous growth of Vaca Muerta, will allow for more LPG available, a strategic resource that Argentina can take advantage of.
