In Buenos Aires, Mitre trains will continue to operate on a limited schedule for the next 15 days, after a week without entering Retiro station and two months out of service. According to the Argentine News Agency and as reported by local media, the trains will begin their usual routes but will terminate at Belgrano C. The return service will run from Belgrano C to Tigre, José León Suárez, and Bartolomé Mitre. Although normal service was scheduled to resume this Sunday, March 8, the delays and reduced route are due to Trenes Argentinos continuing tests of the new signaling system at the port terminal, which aims to improve safety conditions in each operation. "These are fundamental and urgent works carried out by Trenes Argentinos Infrastructure. They are part of the action plan for the Railway Emergency and aim to improve the operational safety conditions in which the trains circulate," the railway entity stated to 'Qué Pasa'. This evaluation operation involves running empty trains to check the signaling system, as signals over 100 years old, as well as old cables and traffic lights, are still being replaced.
