Argentina Abolishes Gas Subsidy User Segmentation

Buenos Aires, March 3 (NA) – The National Gas Regulatory Entity (ENARGAS) approved a new informational procedure to implement the Focused Energy Subsidies (SEF) regime and eliminated user segmentation.

This measure establishes the unification of beneficiaries into a single category of users requiring assistance for essential consumption, eliminating the previous division into three levels (N1, N2, and N3). The regulation incorporates users of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) via networks into the subsidy system and maintains the previously established basic consumption blocks for natural gas.

Similarly, the measure nullifies the Federal Social Gas Tariff program and bonuses for public entities, whose beneficiaries are now integrated into the new unified scheme. According to ENARGAS Resolution 101/2026, published this Tuesday in the Official Bulletin (processed by Argentine News Agency), previous resolutions regulating subsidy reports for social entities and LPG are repealed.

The agency has established new sworn statement models that service providers and sub-distributors must submit to verify gas volumes consumed under this regime. The scheme includes general bonuses on the gas price and an additional extraordinary discount of up to 25% for the year 2026, destined for SEF beneficiaries.

These administrative and technical changes are applicable for billings issued from February 1, 2026.
