The Argentine government celebrated the ratification of the free trade agreement between Mercosur and the European Union. The country's Senate approved this historic document, opening access to a massive market. Officials have stated that this is a crucial step towards prosperity.
Interior Minister Diego Santilli described the project as "another step towards an Argentina integrated into the world, with more trade and investment, led by Javier Milei." The leader of the libertarian bloc in the Senate, Patricia Bullrich, also emphasized that "Argentina and its provinces are entering a huge market with thousands of opportunities."
President Javier Milei and his ministers actively expressed their support on social media. The President posted immediately after the approval: "Opening = Prosperity VLLC!" Economy Minister Luis Caputo was succinct, posting the acronym TMAP, which means "Todo Marcha De Acuerdo al Plan" (Everything is going according to plan).
As Foreign Minister Pablo Quino stated, "with this ratification, the European Commission will have the necessary conditions to begin its provisional application." He added, "We chose openness, competition, and integration into the world, which means more investment, growth, and jobs."
This agreement, which brings together over 700 million people with a GDP of 22 trillion dollars, will allow Argentine export goods to begin enjoying the negotiated tariff preferences, opening up new horizons for the country."
