Argentina Airports Invests $110 Million in Ezeiza Airport Upgrade

Argentine Airports will invest 110 million dollars to launch a works plan for Ezeiza International Airport, which will strengthen operational efficiency and security, as well as passenger services and cargo terminal capabilities in the face of sustained growth in activity.

Among the main works, mostly concentrated on the airside, the creation of the new Golf platform stands out, which will allow the operation and parking of 7 narrow-body aircraft with dedicated ramp space, which will support a higher level of activity. Additionally, the secondary runway (17-35) and the intersection between it and the main runway (11-29) will be rehabilitated. These works are aimed at strengthening capacity and operational efficiency, ensuring the infrastructure conditions for the future development of the airport.

Due to these works, between October 25 and November 11, the airport's operation will be restricted exclusively to runway 11-29, which will be limited to 1850 meters. Along with these works, a new circulation to the Ricchieri highway will be developed to facilitate internal traffic in the terminal.

These works add to the progress made in 2025, which included the expansion of the domestic boarding area, incorporating new gastronomy and service options, the creation of the Calm Room—designed to contribute to the well-being of people on the autism spectrum—the reform of the Inspection and Registration Point (PIR), the opening of a new VIP lounge, a new terminal for car rental companies, and new commercial stores, among other improvements for passengers to have a unique experience at the airport.

Ezeiza International Airport is the main point of entry and exit for tourism to the country, with operations in 2025 totaling 12 million passengers, 5.10% more than in 2024. Currently, 31 airlines operate in Ezeiza, connecting to destinations worldwide, and the airport has direct connections to 55 international and 35 domestic destinations.

In the framework of these works, planned in conjunction with the Airport System Regulatory Body (Orsna), the lighting system (a set of runway lights for takeoff and landing assistance) will also be remodeled, the Alpha taxiway will be repaved, and new ramp maintenance modules will be created.

In terms of sustainability, an energy supply system will be launched to provide renewable energy to 5 stands, and a new water treatment plant by reverse osmosis will be inaugurated, which will allow treating 100% of the water used in the airport.

Regarding the landside, the domestic arrivals terminal will be expanded by 1,200 m2, adding 5 new boarding gates—bringing the total to 12—and 3,500 m2 of total pre-boarding area, where a new VIP lounge, new gastronomy, and a children's space will also be built.

From a technological point of view, the entire airline terminal operation system will be replaced, which includes more than 1,700 peripherals, including check-in computers, gate computers, self check-in, self bag drop, security check points, monitors, boarding printers, passport readers, and barcode readers. These are latest-generation additions, ready to work with biometrics (today available in migration processes).

Finally, in Aeropuertos Argentina Cargas, the construction of a 12,000 m2 Unique Courier Terminal (TUC) is planned, along with the expansion of the perishables export area, which will increase from 4,500 m2 to almost 7,000 m2 of temperature-controlled areas.
