Argentine Insurance Company Faces Asset Seizure

The National Superintendence of Insurance (SSN) ordered the general attachment of the assets of Libra Compañía Argentina de Seguros S.A. and prohibited it from disposing of its investments. This decision is made within the framework of a regularization process due to observations on its financial statements, as published today in the Official Gazette. According to the Argentine News Agency (NA), Resolution SSN 50/2026, signed by Superintendent Guillermo Plate, definitively approved the adjustments and observations corresponding to the insurer's financial statements as of September 30, 2025. The company was ordered to submit the corrected balance sheets within a period of fifteen consecutive days. Likewise, the SSN required the company to provide explanations and adopt the necessary measures to maintain the integrity of its capital within the same period. For this, it must submit a 'Regularization and Sanitation Plan' in accordance with the procedure provided for in Article 31 of Law 20.091 on Insurance Entities. The precautionary measure of the general attachment of assets was taken to preserve the company's assets while the regularization process is underway. The full resolution can be consulted on the regulator's website. As established in the resolution, the attachment does not extend to the company's current bank accounts.
