YPF, Eni, and XRG Sign Agreement for Argentina LNG Project

Buenos Aires, February 12 (NA) – YPF, Eni, and XRG signed a joint development agreement to advance the Argentina LNG project, which plans to produce 12 million tons per annum of liquefied natural gas through floating liquefaction units. According to the Argentine News Agency, the agreement is a key step towards the final investment decision expected in the second half of 2026 and includes engineering, technical structuring, and commercial and financing tasks. Argentina LNG will integrate production, processing, transportation, and export of LNG, aiming to monetize the potential of Vaca Muerta and position the country as a long-term global supplier. The initial estimated capacity will be 12 MTPA through two floating units (FLNG) of 6 MTPA each, with the possibility of scaling up to 18 MTPA by 2030.

Horacio Marín, President and CEO of YPF, highlighted that the addition of XRG alongside Eni will allow Argentina LNG to be projected as one of the most relevant projects at a global level. From Eni, Guido Brusco emphasized the strategic nature of the agreement, while Mohamed Al Aryani from XRG valued the project's potential to contribute to a reliable and flexible energy supply for international markets.
