Argentine Radical Union Backs Labor Reform

Buenos Aires, February 11 (NA) – The Radical Civic Union (UCR) announced its support for the labor modernization project with a social media post detailing that for the past 5 years, the party has presented 60 proposals to achieve it, following joint work between the party leadership and national legislators. "Caring for SMEs is caring for work," they stated and emphasized that "98% of job creators are SMEs." They proposed that the "Labor Assistance Fund be exclusively for SMEs without defunding the pension system," and also support that "union dues be voluntary" and "severance pay with a bonus and vacation pay." The text continued: "We reject the repeal of the Journalist's Statute and the defunding of Argentine cinema." "We have 20th-century legislation. SMEs cannot hire workers. There are 9 million informal workers. In recent years, labor lawsuits have increased by 135%," stated the UCR and added: "In the last 5 years, the UCR has proposed more than 60 bills, aiming to reduce risk, encourage investment, and create formal employment." The radicals also detailed the points not covered by the reform that the party has already proposed: "Democratic unions where mandates are limited to a single re-election and the asset declarations of unions." They also specified care tasks: Extending paternity leave, male co-responsibility, and a 30-day family leave. They also propose new rights for platform work.
