Buenos Aires, February 3 (NA) – While beef prices are rising, the pork sector is emerging as an alternative. According to data collected by the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fishing, the pork sector reached a record level of slaughter and production last year, with 8,517,433 heads and 812,272 tons, respectively. This result represented an increase of 2.5% for the first figure and 3.4% for the second compared to 2024. On the other hand, domestic pork consumption also recorded a record in 2025 of 18.9 kg/cap/year, marking an 8.7% increase from the previous year. This trend strengthens the presence of various cuts of pork in the local market as a consumption alternative and definitively establishes its benefits, thanks to its versatility, cost, and nutritional value, in the Argentine diet, the secretariat stated. Another key fact is that the country currently has 54 open export markets for both meat and by-products. The total value of the sector's exports increased by 3% in dollars during 2025 compared to the previous year, reaching an amount of USD 15,354,761. "These arguments validate the work carried out by the National Government, where the various measures taken have provided long-term certainty and have allowed to support growth," the secretariat said in a statement.
