Buenos Aires, Feb 2 (NA) – Economy Minister Luis Caputo clarified on Monday that “there will be no invasion of Chinese hybrid cars,” following the arrival in Argentina of a ship with 7,000 such vehicles from the Asian giant. “Those that entered represent 8.5% of last year's total registrations, and 4% are of Chinese manufacture,” the official explained in statements to Radio Rivadavia, reported by the Argentine News Agency. Two weeks ago, the minister had already crossed swords with Deputy Miguel Pichetto, who had complained about the arrival of Chinese cars, and reiterated that “Argentina does not make cars” for the internal market and produces trucks that 70% are exported. Luis Caputo said that “inflation is going to continue to fall and is going to converge with international values.” The BYD brand, one of the largest in the world in electric vehicles, began to have a presence in the country through its Dolphin Mini model, which is presented as a compact and modern urban option.
