In Argentina, the average inflation expectation for the next 12 months stood at 31.5% in January, according to a private study. This figure represents a decrease of 2.5 percentage points compared to the 34% recorded in December. The median for this monthly period remained at 3%. The data comes from the latest Inflation Expectations Survey conducted by the Research Center in Finance (CIF) of Torcuato Di Tella University, and was obtained from the Argentine News Agency. Fieldwork was carried out by the consultancy Poliarquía between January 5 and 15, 2026, through 1,000 telephone surveys in various urban centers across the country. The report details that the reduction in expectations was generalized across all regions. The country's Interior showed the most pronounced decline, with an average that fell from 32.6% to 29.5%. In the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, the expectation dropped to 33.5%, while in Greater Buenos Aires it stood at 35.0%. Finally, projections decreased at all income levels, although a gap persists between them. Households with higher incomes reduced their expectation from 32.4% to 29.2%. Meanwhile, the median of responses remained unchanged at 25%. In the short-term measurement, the forecast for the next 30 days also showed a decline. The average expected inflation for the next month fell to 3.71%, down from the 4.59% reported in December. At the same time, households with lower incomes saw their expectations for the next 12 months decrease from 37.5% to 35.5%.
