Buenos Aires, Jan. 25 (NA) – Commerce in Argentina is undergoing an accelerated transformation with the arrival of major Chinese e-commerce platforms, Temu and Shein, but also Amazon and AliExpress. Argentines are choosing these products for the convenience of prices and the possibility of finding options that are not available in the country, according to the Argentine News Agency. Imports of goods for personal use through the 'door-to-door' system increased by 275% last year, and the outlook for this year is for a similar increase, especially if the Asian market continues to reduce its production costs. In 2025, imports under the 'door-to-door' system totaled US$894 million, according to INDEC. But the trend is increasing month by month, as last December a historic maximum was reached that exceeded US$100 million. The 10 most purchased products include Clothing and footwear, which can be seen more and more on the traditional Avellaneda avenue, in the Caballito neighborhood. Behind them are cell phones, computers, video game consoles and electronic accessories. Then come the Stanley thermoses, which just closed an agreement with Antonela Roccuzzo, Leo Messi's wife, to be the brand's ambassador. The list also includes toys; objects for the home, furniture and outdoor products; and makeup, perfumes and other beauty and personal care items. The government defends the opening of the market for the entry of imports that could not reach the country before, and says it will help to lower prices and for Argentines to have more options. This includes the reduction of tariffs, but also in favor is the stable dollar, price differences of up to 60%, the wide catalog of articles to which you have access and the growth of Chinese platforms. Among the main buyers on these platforms are young people and new consumers. In 2025, 8% of Argentines made their first international online purchase. As for transportation, the Argentine Post is stepping hard alongside companies like Andreani, which launched courier services to bring merchandise from the United States (mainly Miami) and China.
