The Spanish airline Iberia reaffirmed its role as a key bridge between Europe and Latin America after signing a series of strategic agreements with official bodies from Argentina, Puerto Rico, and Peru. This took place during the 46th International Tourism Fair (Fitur), and these alliances, designed to boost transatlantic passenger flow, not only include an intensification of tourism promotion but also a historic increase in operational capacity and frequency of key routes to the region, as reported by the Argentine News Agency. Argentina: A Connectivity Milestone on its 80th Anniversary The collaboration between Iberia and Argentina's National Institute of Tourism Promotion (Improtur) marks a turning point in bilateral relations. On the corporate side, the meeting was led by María Jesús López Solás, Iberia's Commercial Director for Network Development and Alliances, along with Víctor Moneo, the company's Global Sales Director. Currently, the route to Lima is operated with two daily frequencies using the Airbus A350, the most advanced and largest aircraft in Iberia's fleet, which guarantees superior operational efficiency and a greater seat offering to meet the growing demand from European travelers to Peru's cultural and gastronomic destinations. With this deployment of institutional and technical agreements, Iberia not only strengthens its network structure but also positions itself as a key player in the growth of the Latin American tourism ecosystem on the global stage. Peru: High Capacity and Institutional Cooperation Regarding the Andean region, Iberia has inaugurated a new phase of joint promotion with Peruvian authorities. Through an agreement signed between Iberia's President, Marco Sansavini, and the Governor of Puerto Rico, Jennifer González Colón, the island seeks to enhance its competitiveness for the European tourist. The agreement stands out for a high-impact visual initiative: the customization of an aircraft from Iberia's fleet with motifs related to Puerto Rico, turning the plane into a traveling ambassador for the country's brand. In an unprecedented move, the airline will increase its operations between Madrid and Buenos Aires to reach four daily flights during June, July, and August 2026. This technical deployment represents a historic maximum in transport capacity for this market, coinciding significantly with eight decades of uninterrupted air connection between the two capitals. Likewise, the renewal of the agreement with the Visit Buenos Aires agency reinforces the positioning of the Argentine capital in European markets. The formalization event was attended by Jorge Macri, Head of Government of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, who emphasized the importance of these agreements for local economic development through international tourism. Puerto Rico and the Personalization of the Air Travel Experience The expansion strategy also extends to the Caribbean. Working meetings were attended by Peru's Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Teresa Stella Mera Gómez, and the General Manager of Promperú, María del Sol Velázquez.
