Argentina Investigates Possible Chinese Washing Machine Dumping

The Argentine government has launched an investigation into possible dumping of washing machines from China. This decision comes amid discussions about economic opening and the closure of the Whirlpool factory. The company Drean S.A. filed a complaint, alleging that Chinese goods are being imported at prices below their production cost. The investigation will focus on automatic washing machines with a capacity of up to 13 kilograms. According to official data, imports of Chinese washing machines into Argentina increased by 590% in volume during the first nine months of 2025 compared to the same period in the previous year. The National Foreign Trade Commission found an average dumping margin of 10.43% in export operations from the Asian country. Stakeholders have a 30-day period to present their evidence and complete the corresponding questionnaires. The analysis of the damage to the local industry will take into account the market's evolution from January 2022 to September 2025.
