ATE Rejects Salary Update

The Argentine State Workers Association (ATE) has rejected the government’s proposal for a 2 % salary update in December and a one‑time bonus of 50,000 pesos. The offer, accepted by the majority union UPCN, does not meet the demands of public sector employees.

Rodolfo Aguiar, ATE’s general secretary, criticized the proposal as "miserable" and said the bonus does not even cover basic consumption. He explained that inflation is projected to reach 30.7 % by 2025, surpassing the 17.1 % wage parity and leaving workers with a real loss of purchasing power.

Aguiar added that cumulative inflation since Javier Milei took office exceeds 42 %. ATE is convening its bodies to devise an action plan to reverse falling wages and lift workers out of poverty.

"The public sector never imagined a worse end of the year," he said.
