Buenos Aires' Aeroparque has launched its new North Platform with a $27 million investment to enhance connectivity and passenger experience. In 2025, the airport set passenger traffic records, serving over 16.3 million people, and was named the best in its category in the Americas. A major modernization program continues to expand terminals to meet growing demand.

Buenos Aires' Aeroparque Opens New North Platform

Buenos Aires' Jorge Newbery Airport (Aeroparque) began operating today with its new North Platform, which will optimize national and international connectivity. The total investment for the project is 27 million dollars to provide greater flexibility in airport operations and improve the passenger experience. These works represent an expansion of the North Platform by 17,000 m², bringing its total area to 66,000 m², complementing the renovations of this platform that began in 2023. The project allows for six aircraft parking positions: four are new (two inaugurated in the first phase of construction) for Type C aircraft (such as the Boeing 737-800 and Airbus 321) and two more in this phase. Airlines operating at the airport include Aerolíneas Argentinas, Jetsmart, Flybondi, Gol, Latam, Sky, Avianca, and Paranair, connecting destinations throughout the country and the region. During 2025, Aeroparque was recognized as the best airport in America in its category at the Routes Americas Awards 2025. Through the comprehensive modernization and infrastructure improvement program being implemented by Aeropuertos Argentina, the travel experience will be optimized, reinforcing the comfort and security of passengers so that porteños and all Argentines have a gateway to the world from which to grow and continue building a prosperous future. With the end of 2025 approaching, the terminal has already processed over 16.3 million passengers, counting through the month of November. This represents an increase of more than 20.9% compared to the same period of the previous year, presenting a historic opportunity and a great challenge for the coming year. Among other compelling figures, this year the airport reached the following records: Record for monthly passengers: 1,568,072 passengers in July 2025; Record for monthly international passengers: 469,746 passengers in July 2025; Record for daily international passengers: 18,325 passengers on November 10, 2025; Record for total daily passengers: 59,337 passengers on April 11, 2025; Record for daily commercial flights: 429 flights on July 25, 2025. In response to this growing demand, Aeropuertos Argentina has developed an infrastructure and technology plan that will improve service quality and the passenger experience, while optimizing national and international connectivity, boosting tourism, and enhancing local economic development. In addition to the North Platform expansion works, Aeropuertos Argentina has begun a new phase of work in the passenger terminal, which included the closure of the public walkway on the upper level and the re-adaptation of the circulation flow within the building. The closure of the first-floor public walkway is part of the work for the Police of Airport Security (PSA) security screening area (PIR) at the entrance to the domestic pre-boarding area. This project involves expanding this space by relocating security equipment, which will provide more meters to offer more services to passengers. During the development of the interventions, new signage and staff assistance have been arranged to facilitate transit and ensure the normal operation of flights. As part of this infrastructure plan, works are also planned for the expansion of the domestic pre-boarding area, with an intervention area of 2,800 m² and an expansion of 1,400 m², for a total of over 8,300 m², incorporating more space in this sector and adding commercial, gastronomic options, and a new VIP lounge. The expansion of the international pre-boarding area is also projected, with a total projected area of 4,180 m², where the space will be re-functionalized to improve circulation and terminal capacity, increasing passenger processing capacity per hour by 30%. This will also include new gastronomic options, 3 new restroom cores, a new VIP lounge, new seating areas, a new arrivals corridor, and an expanded boarding area incorporating a Flex gate that can be used for both domestic and international flights, adapting to demand. Finally, the expansion of the check-in hall is also planned, incorporating 160 m² of circulation to the sector and a new restroom core for greater passenger comfort. Jorge Newbery Airport is the Argentine terminal with the highest number of passengers. Furthermore, this expansion incorporates 2 parking positions for Class E aircraft like the Airbus A330 (in a mixed aircraft configuration). It also includes a new taxiway centerline lighting system and the installation of LED lighting towers. The metropolitan air station, on the other hand, continues to break records.
