Argentina Grants First Certificate for Biobased Construction Panel

Buenos Aires, December 11 (NA) – The Undersecretariat of Agropecuary and Forestry Production granted the 'Argentine Bioproduct' Certificate of Interest to a straw panel for construction with ninety-nine percent biobased content, as published today in the Official Gazette. Through Resolution 19/2025, signed by Undersecretary Manuel José Chiappe Berisso, the certification was granted once to the company Caldero Terra Builders S.A. for the product called 'Straw Panel 3.0', as reported by the Argentine News Agency. The Certificate of Interest is awarded to products in an early stage of development that demonstrate biobased content but do not yet meet all the requirements to obtain the full 'Argentine Bioproduct' seal. The National Advisory Commission on Biomaterials, which issued its opinion at its meeting on March 26, 2025, considered that the product is still in an early stage of development and is therefore worthy of the Certificate of Interest instead of the 'Sustainability' category seal for which the company had applied. The resolution clarifies that the certificate is for the purpose of indicating that the product is made from or is a biobased material, but it does not imply approval for commercial sale, which must be processed with the corresponding authorities in accordance with current regulations. The Argentine Bioproduct Program was created to promote the development of the national bioeconomy by identifying and promoting products of biological origin.
