Dollar in Argentina falls for third consecutive day

Buenos Aires, December 5 (NA) – The local currency situation worsened in the market this Friday, with the dollar experiencing its third consecutive drop. This was driven by expectations of a sustained influx of foreign currency in the short term, reinforced by the government's announcement of new debt issuance in US dollars. The official dollar closed at 1.410 for purchase and 1.460 for sale, according to the quote offered by the National Bank, representing a drop of 10 pesos from Thursday, according to the Argentine News Agency. Meanwhile, the blue dollar traded at 1.415 for purchase and 1.435 for sale, while the wholesale dollar concluded the day with a nine-peso decrease, equivalent to 0.6%, closing at 1.435. This value represents the lowest price for the currency in the wholesale segment since November 21, reinforcing a trend of moderation in the official exchange rate. In the financial exchange rates, the MEP (Electronic Payments Market) rose again, settling at 1,481.10 for purchase and 1,478.20 for sale, while the CCL (Settled-in-Cash) fell and traded at 1,506.80 for both purchase and sale.
