The Buenos Aires province has officially announced a fare increase for public transport in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA). Starting in December, bus fares will rise by 14.4%. This decision was published in the official provincial gazette. The main reason for the increase is the need to restore the transport system's revenue and boost tariff collection, as well as reduce the need for subsidies. The government held public consultations to allow residents to express their opinions on the proposed fare adjustment. With the new increase, the minimum fare will exceed 650 Argentine pesos. Depending on the distance traveled, the fare will range from 658.44 pesos for the first 3 kilometers to over 902 pesos for routes longer than 27 kilometers. These prices apply to full fares without subsidies or social benefits.
