Argentina's Long Weekend: Banks and Forex Market Adjust Operations

Argentina is experiencing a four-day long weekend, during which the operations of banks and financial markets will be altered. From Friday, November 21st, to Monday, November 24th, banks will not be open to the public. However, online and mobile banking services for transfers and payments will remain operational. ATMs will also function normally. All operations with foreign currency and other financial transactions in the official circuit are suspended. All settlements scheduled for these dates are postponed to Tuesday, November 25th. The US dollar exchange rate will be determined by stock market activity, including for the MEP dollar and 'Contado con Liquidación' (CCL) dollar. This allows trading of these assets through stockbrokers. Consequently, buying or selling dollars in the official circuit will not be possible. The official dollar exchange rate set by the Banco Nación remains at ARS 1,400 for purchase and ARS 1,450 for sale until Tuesday. In the parallel dollar segment, where all activity is concentrated, the last closing rate was ARS 1,405/1,425. Virtual wallets will maintain their systems for payments and collections, but operations such as fixed-term deposits will not be available.
