On Monday, the Minister of Infrastructure and Mobility of Buenos Aires, Pablo Bereciartua, announced the scheduled closure of a key section of Lugones Avenue, which will impact thousands of motorists who travel daily along the corridor connecting the city with the northern area of the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA). As the official communicated on his social network X and as reported by the Argentine News Agency (NA), the closure is necessary to install new structures that will be part of the bridge expansion, a project considered strategic within the city's mobility plan. The tunnel that will connect Villa Urquiza with La Siberia will eliminate the bottleneck on the exit to General Paz from Chacarita. 'Works on the Labruna Bridge in Núñez are advancing: from 9 p.m. today, Lugones will be closed at the height of Udaondo to install 6 beams of 47 tons each,' Bereciartua informed on X. In this regard, users are advised to opt for alternative routes and pay attention to detour signs. The City of Buenos Aires is advancing with one of the most relevant road works for the northern area. It is about the expansion of the Labruna Bridge, in the Núñez neighborhood. In this way, traffic will be diverted to allow for the installation operation. 'This project will completely transform the connection between Udaondo, Lugones, and Cantilo, and order the area that moves thousands of people every day,' assured Bereciartua. The minister emphasized that it is an extraordinary procedure due to its scale and structural importance. 'It is a huge operation that allows us to continue expanding this bridge and adding new lanes, a wide pedestrian walkway, and a safe bike lane,' he explained. With this intervention, the City Government seeks to improve vehicular circulation and strengthen active mobility in a sector with high demand from pedestrians and cyclists. The works on the Labruna Bridge are part of a broader project to reorganize and modernize the connection between Udaondo, Lugones, and Cantilo avenues, three key accesses for the daily flow in the northern part of the city.
