Argentine Ambassador: Country Building Bridges to Attract Investment

The Argentine ambassador to the United States, Alec Oxenford, stated that thanks to the trade agreement with that country, Argentina 'is starting to move in the right direction.' He emphasized that Argentines 'spent 80 years building walls,' but are now 'starting to build bridges' with the US and the rest of the world, which 'makes it easier to attract investment.' Oxenford cited the examples of Poland in 1991 and South Korea in the 1950s, where economic integration, security, and development attracted investment, and GDP and per capita income grew significantly. He noted that 'many people still suffer because there is still a long way to go, but the key is to be honest, because this time it is worth it and we are moving in the right direction.' The ambassador reiterated that 'this is the first time since the 1940s that we are on the right side of history' and that this is 'the right path, launching a process of long-term, sustainable prosperity.'
