The costs of taxis in Buenos Aires have risen, especially during the bus strike. A 5 km trip can cost up to $5,760, affecting demand.

Taxi Fares in Buenos Aires Increase

The taxi service in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires can be convenient for those needing to travel during the 24-hour bus strike called by the UTA. However, it is important to consider that costs may vary depending on the route and time.

To get an approximate idea of the price of a taxi ride in CABA, the following rates can be taken into account: the base fare is $1,920, the meter charges $192 every 200 meters or per minute of waiting, and during nighttime hours (between 10 PM and 6 AM) there is a 20% surcharge. Additionally, one piece of luggage can be carried at no extra cost, as long as it does not exceed the allowed dimensions. Each extra bag has a cost equivalent to five meters ($960).

A trip of approximately 5 kilometers in smooth traffic conditions may cost around $5,760, but this amount can increase if there are delays or if traveling at night. It is essential to keep in mind that if the trip is heading outside the City and the taxi does not return with the same passenger, it may incur an additional charge.

It is crucial that fares are paid only in Argentine pesos and that the taxi meter is visible throughout the trip. In case of any violation, a complaint can be made by calling 147 or 0800-222-3683 (ENTE), or by sending an email to taxis@buenosaires.gob.ar.

In this strike situation, the high taxi fares and demand are also impacting transport platforms, which show price increases based on time and area. However, the taxi service in the City is operating normally and is presented as an option for those needing to travel during this bus strike period.
