The Argentine government has announced changes to the deadlines for the Vehicle Technical Verification (VTV) recently. According to the new regulations, private 0 km cars must undergo the VTV for the first time after five years from the registration date. On the other hand, vehicles older than 10 years must undergo the VTV every two years in the case of private cars.
In the province of Buenos Aires, the cost of the VTV increased by 17.9% in February, reaching $63,436 for vehicles up to 2,500 kg and $25,385.32 for motorcycles over 50cc and up to 200cc. Additionally, in the City of Buenos Aires, a new cost of $52,878 for cars and $19,800 for motorcycles has been set.
It is essential to highlight that a properly functioning windshield is crucial for passing the VTV. The regulation specifies that the windshield must be free of damage that could obstruct vision and endanger the vehicle occupants. In addition to inspecting the glass, attention is paid to other front parts such as the bumper, windshield wipers, among other components.
During the VTV, a detailed review of various elements is carried out, such as bumpers, windshields, chassis, windshield wipers, seatbelts, fire extinguishers, beacons, among others. If the vehicle does not pass the inspection, a new appointment must be requested within 60 days to correct the detected issues.
The government has announced that 0 km vehicles will have to undergo the VTV starting from the fifth year of registration, while for non-private vehicles, the deadline will be two years. The possibility of performing the VTV in authorized workshops or dealerships is being implemented, eliminating the obligation to carry it out in state workshops.
