
The parallel dollar in Argentina is currently quoted 5 pesos below the value it started the year with, having ended 2024 at $1230. On Tuesday, the Central Bank of the Republic of Argentina purchased 171 million dollars in the Unique and Free Exchange Market. Since Luis Caputo took over management on December 13, 2023, the BCRA has accumulated a positive balance of 24.617 million dollars, with International Reserves at 28.404 million dollars. Regarding the blue dollar, today, Thursday, February 20, it is sold at $1205 for buying and $1225 for selling. In the first three days of the week, it has seen an increase of 5 pesos due to the political tension caused by the LIBRA gate. Meanwhile, the official dollar is offered at $1039 for buying and $1079 for selling at Banco Nación. The exchange rate for the credit card dollar has been modified by the government and is now at $1402.70. The gap in the informal market hovers around 14.45%, while the wholesale dollar is quoted at $1036.90 for buying and $1076.80 for selling. The CCL or cable dollar is at $1212.20 for buying and $1214.10 for selling, and the MEP or stock dollar is sold at $1204.80 for buying and $1205.10 for selling. As for the official dollar in different financial institutions in the port city, it ranges between 1018 and 1093 pesos for buying, and between 1036 and 1076 pesos for selling. It is expected that the BCRA will intensify its interventions in the coming days to contain the dollar price, with possible sales of reserves in the bond market to mitigate pressures, amid the political situation generated by the episode with the LIBRA token.
