Increase in Fuel and Service Prices in Buenos Aires

Starting Saturday, February 1st, fuel prices increased by an average of 2%. This adjustment adds to the 17.9% increase announced for the Vehicle Technical Verification (VTV) in the province of Buenos Aires.

Regarding telecommunications, cable, and internet services, users will see increases ranging from 2.9% to 3.6%. The oil company YPF was one of the first to apply the increase in gasoline and diesel prices across the country. Although the Government postponed the update of liquid fuel and carbon dioxide taxes until early March, it is expected that other companies in the sector will also adjust their prices.

According to data, the price per liter of super gasoline at YPF service stations in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires is $1151, while premium gasoline reaches $1422 per liter.

The increases in fuels and other services are due to various factors, such as the rise in the international price of Brent crude, which hovered around $76 per barrel. In addition, the monthly adjustment in the official dollar price, which dropped from 2% in January to 1% in February, also influenced the decision to adjust prices.

On the other hand, more increases are expected in different sectors. According to the Energy Secretariat, electricity tariffs will increase by 1.5% in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires and by 1.6% for gas nationwide. Meanwhile, water bills will rise by 1% in February for users in AMBA.

In the rental sector, a 174.4% increase is expected for tenants who remain under the previous regime of the Rental Law. Regarding health, prepaid medical companies announced an update of between 2.9% and 3.7% in their services.
