Argentina Delays IMF Agreement Signing

The national government has taken a step back regarding the agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and has expressed that there is no definitive date for signing the agreement.

Presidential spokesperson Manuel Adorni emphasized this position during a press conference held at the Government House. He stressed that, although there is no specific date for signing the agreement, it will eventually take place, arguing that the Argentine government has acted in accordance with the financial needs of the country.

Adorni stated that no setbacks are anticipated in the process, although he reiterated that there are no defined deadlines. He also mentioned that the amounts of the funds to be received have not yet been determined, nor has a schedule been established to lift the currency restrictions.

In this context, he declared that the president has confirmed that the agreement will be finalized within this year. However, he acknowledged that a one-year deadline may be unsatisfactory for some of the parties involved.

The IMF mission concluded its work in Buenos Aires during the last weekend, and it is expected that the organization's spokesperson will hold a press conference in Washington next Thursday to provide more details on the matter.
