Buenos Aires, February 13, 2026 (NA) — Controversy in Berazategui is growing over the so-called North Eco-Urban District, a project that began with land movements and became embroiled in public and judicial complaints due to its environmental impact and compliance with local regulations. According to information from the Argentine News Agency, the objections raised point to work on some 150 hectares and warn that as machinery advances, difficult-to-reverse changes could be consolidated in the terrain. In this context, it was reported that a lawsuit has been filed with the Buenos Aires Supreme Court, questioning the local procedure and the legality of the administrative steps related to the project. Municipal documents mention the area as a "riparian environmental reserve zone" and condition actions on studies and procedures established in local regulations.
Publications on the case also highlighted the presence of a protected native forest under provincial law, and called for the intervention of competent authorities to halt work in the area until the legal framework is clarified.
