A 29-year-old officer of the Buenos Aires police was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head in Berazategui. The situation is being investigated to determine whether it was a suicide or a murder.
The tragic event took place last Saturday on 155th street between 37 A and 38 in Berazategui, where a police mobile unit discovered the body of the agent, identified as Victor Maidana, with a bullet wound in the head. According to police sources who informed the Noticias Argentinas agency, the officer was performing security duties for the company Edesur. During a repair on a light meter, about 40 meters away, the employees heard a gunshot. Upon arriving at the scene, they found the officer conscious but with a head injury and his service weapon by his side.
The impact on the windshield of the van and other evidence suggest that the shot was fired from inside the vehicle towards the outside. In this context, prosecutor Fernando Forjan, secretary of UFI No. 1, ordered the review of the content of the police officer's cell phone.
