Former Advisor Sentenced to Prison for Perjury in Argentina

Buenos Aires, March 4 (NA) – Fiorella Damiani, the former school advisor of La Libertad Avanza, was sentenced this Wednesday to 3 years in prison suspended for the crime of aggravated false testimony for having occurred in a criminal case to the detriment of the accused. After several days of hearings, in which several witnesses and experts testified and even audiovisual records were exhibited, the Criminal Court No. 1 of Bahía Blanca decided to condemn Damiani to 3 years of conditional imprisonment, for which reason she will not go to prison. During the plea stage, as learned by the Argentine News Agency, the prosecution and the complainant requested nine years in prison, while her lawyer asked the court to acquit her client or apply the minimum sentence. From the media La Brújula 24 they pointed out that after the evidence presented in the trial, the court sentenced her and ordered a special disqualification for double the time of the sentence to testify in judicial processes. As occurs in other cases, the former school advisor must fulfill various guidelines: constitute and keep her domicile updated and submit to the control of the corresponding Patronato de Liberados in her place of residence. It is expected that the prosecution and the complainant will appeal the judges' ruling. One of the complainants stated that it was "a mockery." Case Damiani was detained on April 10, 2025, after the Justice determined that the accusation she had made in 2017 against two men for rape was false. That year, the advisor, belonging to the political party of Javier Milei, had denounced Joaquín Álvarez and Fernando Pereyra, who were detained accused of the crime of serious sexual abuse with carnal access aggravated by being committed by two people. However, the videos showed that it was a consensual encounter by all parties during a sex party.
