A man was arrested in connection with a case in which he was accused of brutally beating a 71-year-old woman following a robbery inside a home in the Coronel Rosales district of Buenos Aires Province. As part of an investigation by the Prosecutor's Office of Punta Alta, near Puerto Belgrano, and following an order from a Guarantees Court, Buenos Aires provincial police arrested the man, identified as Emanuel Colo, as he was walking down a street in Bahía Blanca. The incident occurred on September 16, 2024, when Colo, along with an accomplice who is still at large, scaled a wall of a house on Yrigoyen Street at 1100, then walked across the rooftops, broke a window, and confronted the 71-year-old woman. According to the case, once inside the house, the men kicked the homeowner in the ankles, struck her in the face, arms, back, and chest, threatened to kill her, and tied her up with wire. After making threats, the two thieves took a sum of cash and fled on foot. Due to the beating, the woman suffered multiple traumatic injuries, several fractured ribs, a fracture of her right ankle—which required surgical treatment—and facial bruising; all injuries were deemed serious. Colo was transferred to the custody of the Departmental Investigations Department in connection with the case, which is officially classified as aggravated robbery by scaling and causing serious injury, as well as illegal deprivation of liberty aggravated by the use of violence and threats.
