Scandal in the Argentine Chamber of Deputies

Following the decision of the Speaker of the Chamber, Martín Menem, to lift the session, a conflict erupted that gained relevance with the images that subsequently circulated, showing Deputy Oscar Zago confronting Lisandro Almirón in the chamber. The trigger for the fight was the support of the MID bloc, to which Zago belongs, for the creation of an investigative commission, a position that caused division in La Libertad Avanza (LLA).

Almirón, aligned with Menem, expressed disagreement with the appointment of Marcela Pagano to the Political Trial Commission, while Zago, who recently distanced himself from the ruling party, supported the proposal. The confrontation between both deputies reached a point of tension that required the intervention of other legislators to separate them.

Tensions grew even more as the vote for the "normalization" of the Political Trial Commission approached, with Marcela Pagano as chair. The session of the Argentine Chamber of Deputies that Wednesday ended in a scandal with shouting, pushing, and insults among the legislators, despite unanimously approving the declaration of emergency in Bahía Blanca.
