Emergency in Bahía Blanca due to Flooding

The Senate will activate the Budget and Finance Commission tomorrow to discuss a project presented by Buenos Aires senators that seeks to declare a state of emergency and disaster situation in the cities of Bahía Blanca and Coronel Rosales. In addition, the initiative proposes the creation of a Special Fund in pesos, under the responsibility of the Chief of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Nation, to address the damages caused by the emergency.

The project was promoted by legislators Juliana Di Tullio and Wado de Pedro, from Unión por la Patria, and Maximiliano Abad, from the Unión Cívica Radical. In the presented justification, the senators emphasize that the goal of the law is to mitigate the economic, material, and social effects of the flooding that occurred in the Province of Buenos Aires in March 2025.

Regarding the situation in Bahía Blanca, the senators noted that the rains caused not only the total flooding of the city but also a serious deterioration in its infrastructure, which forced the evacuation of residents from their homes. However, no further details were provided on this point at the time of writing this news.

Last Friday, the senators informed about this project through their social networks. It is expected that the issue will be addressed after the new authorities in the Senate are formed, and it is estimated that the session in the chamber could take place on Thursday if the matter progresses as planned.
