The quorum for the Wednesday session, where declaring the environmental, economic, and housing emergency of Bahía Blanca and other municipalities affected by the storm for 90 days is proposed, is in jeopardy. The initiative led by national deputy Victoria Tolosa Paz has the support of deputies from various political parties, including PRO and UCR.
The opposition seeks to sway reluctant deputies to participate in the session by proposing a rule deviation to include the emergency declaration. Notable signatures on the project include Florencia de Sensi, Hernán Lombardi, Karina Banfi, and Miguel Ángel Pichetto, among others.
The project includes measures for the recovery of the areas affected by the storm and urges the national government to allocate resources for the reconstruction of economic, health, and social infrastructure, coordinating with provincial and local governments. It prioritizes urgent public works, financial assistance, and subsidized loans.
Victoria Tolosa Paz stated that unanimity will be sought for the emergency declaration, highlighting the importance of aid for all affected localities. She criticized the current government assistance and the president's absence from the affected area, recalling his actions following previous disasters. She emphasized the institutional role of politics in the reconstruction of the affected areas and called for all political forces to support the project.
