Floods Devastate Bahía Blanca

In the municipality, serious consequences have been recorded due to the flooding caused by the overflow of the Maldonado canal. According to reports from residents, the water reached a critical level, mainly affecting the park area, the city center, and homes near the canal.

One affected person detailed that within just thirty minutes, the water rose 50 centimeters due to the heavy rains. Testimonies describe shocking scenes, such as waking up with the water almost at the height of the first-floor windows and living next to a temporary river near the home.

Despite the magnitude of the disaster, there has been solidarity from local volunteers and others from different areas, including groups from Buenos Aires, who have come together to provide assistance in cleaning tasks and support to those affected.

On the other hand, it has been highlighted that many sectors continue without water, sewage, and electricity supply. In light of this situation, a 45-year-old resident affected by the flooding recounted his experience, mentioning how he had to evacuate his children and deal with the rapid rise of water in his home.

The account of the harrowing episode during the storm was shared by Claudio Troncoso, one of the inhabitants of the affected area, who emphasized the difficulties experienced and the need to rebuild what was lost after the disaster. According to his words, reconstruction is always more complicated than the initial devastation.

Although he did not suffer serious damage, the man highlighted the anguish he experienced seeing how the water quickly invaded his home and how he managed to get his children to safety amidst the emergency.
