A tragic storm in Bahía Blanca has left more than 16 people dead and thousands evacuated, with significant damage in the city. But this has not been the only weather problem in Argentina, as other provinces such as San Luis, Tucumán, and Salta have also registered severe weather phenomena.
In Tucumán, an intense storm caused flooding in several cities such as San Miguel de Tucumán, Lules, Las Talitas, and Banda del Río Salí. The overflow of the Pilcomayo River has caused complications on roads and routes in the region. In Salta, the downpour in the western part of the territory left nearly a hundred people isolated, with homes destroyed by landslides.
The most affected areas in Salta were the capital, Valle de Lerma, Tartagal, Embarcación, and Coronel Cornejo. The situation has forced numerous families to be evacuated by Civil Defense efforts, while in some places like Las Lagunas, in San Luis, up to 245 millimeters of rain has accumulated.
In Salvador Mazza, also in Salta, the landslides caused by the rise of the Bermejo River have affected traffic in the area, even cutting the border crossing to Bolivia. In Banda del Río Salí and Las Talitas, the evacuation of residents has been reported due to the floods.
In Valle de Lerma, sadly, the lifeless body of a 24-year-old man was found, who may have been swept away by the current. In Jujuy, a yellow alert has been activated due to the impact of the weather phenomenon in different regions such as Quebrada, Puna, the Valleys, and Yungas, with thousands evacuated and considerable material damage.
