
A 34-year-old man, a merchant, is in critical condition at a hospital in Bahía Blanca after being shot during a robbery attempt. Two suspects were arrested shortly thereafter amidst a storm affecting the area, according to police sources cited by the Argentine News Agency.
The incident occurred around 9:40 PM when Arsenio Gutiérrez Chaira was at his butcher shop and grocery store on Alem Street, number 2800. According to initial investigations, he was approached by two armed men who demanded money and merchandise. Apparently, the merchant resisted and was shot, prompting the thieves to flee on foot.
After the attack, he was taken to the Municipal Hospital of Bahía Blanca, where doctors reported that he had a gunshot wound in the upper abdomen, with damage to the small intestine and bleeding in the protective membrane. The patient underwent surgery and is in critical condition in intensive care.
A large police operation led to the arrest of two men suspected of being involved in the attempted homicide, carried out by personnel from the seventh precinct in the area.
