The Attorney General of Bahía Blanca, Juan Pablo Fernández, provided information on the current situation following the storm that affected the region, highlighting that, so far, there are two missing persons, the sisters Pilar and Delfina Hecker. Additionally, he confirmed that the number of fatalities has risen to 16, although he did not rule out that it may increase.
Fernández emphasized the importance of using the correct terms when referring to missing persons, noting that the term is often used without understanding its true meaning. To date, 222 calls have been received, of which 165 corresponded to people with whom contact could not be established.
The prosecutor detailed that of those calls, two were confirmed as deceased: Rubén Omar Salazar, a driver for the logistics company that attempted to rescue the Hecker family, and Ángel Eduardo Mosman. In both cases, the cause of death was determined to be drowning due to mechanical asphyxia from immersion, following the respective autopsies.
Juan Pablo Fernández stressed the importance of not speculating with information and only communicating verified data, requesting neighbors to call 911 or come personally to the public ministry offices to provide necessary information.
